Sarajevo International Airport is situated 8 km from Sarajevo's center. It is located in Butmir, a suburban town and neighborhood in lidža that's noted for the Sarajevo War Tunnel, which is now a museum. It takes approximately 22 minutes to drive between the city center and the airport. You can take either the R446 for access to the south of the city or the M18 highway for access from the west.
Sarajevo International Airport is both the largest and the principal international airport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with over a million passengers per year. A combination of regular and seasonal flights provides convenient links with Europe and the Middle East. Its busiest routes include Istanbul, Vienna, Zagreb, Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Warsaw, Cologne, Dubai, Zurich, London and Stuttgart.
Sarajevo International Airport serves the Bosnian capital and the greater Sarajevo region. Regional towns like Pale, Sokolac, Vogosca, Hadzici and Ilijas all benefit from the airport and its highway links (M5, M18, A1). The city of Zenica, 69 km north of Sarajevo, also benefits from the airport. Arrivals picking up a car rental in Sarajevo International Airport can visit highlights like the War Childhood Museum and Sarajevo City Hall.
